Presentations and Training
Presentations and Training
Each of Pain Pals GYs presentations are designed to enlighten and peak your interest in that particular subject. As well as seeing the presentation, you will be given handouts which will remind you of the techniques you have learned and help you apply new skills that support your physical and mental health.
What is in the presentations?
You will see pictures and easy to understand words. Our staff member will read all the information in the presentation and encourage you to also read some of the information, if you are comfortable to do so. This will help build your confidence in communicating with others and exercise your mind.
Some of our presentations discuss topics that can be upsetting for some people, because they will connect you with your thoughts and emotions about your disabilities and difficulties. The staff member will inform you about anything in the presentation that could be upsetting, prior to starting the presentation. The staff member will be there to offer you emotional support and allow you to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe way.
How and where are the presentations held?
You can choose to have a presentation, in person in your home or via the internet. One of our staff will arrange a time to visit or speak with you, via a free internet call.
(If you are not confident with technology, our staff will assist you with setting up the free software you will need to use internet video calling.)
Who sees the presentations?
All presentations are privet unless specified otherwise. Occasionally Pain Pals GY holds group support sessions, that you may be invited to attend. During these sessions you can appear as yourself via the internet forum or choose to hide your identity with a blank page or avatar.
You will still have the opportunity to ask questions verbally or via written comments.
How long are the presentations?
Presentations take an average of one and a half hours. The timescale is dependant on the speed in which each topic is covered, allowing you time to discuss your problems and ask questions.
You will be able to have shorter sessions if necessary, take breaks whenever you wish or stop the presentation at any time.
Can I see the same presentation again?
There is no limit to the amount of times you wish to see our presentations or have extra support around the topics those presentations cover.
If you have any other question, please email or direct message us through Facebook.
